San Diego, Ca. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team started a trip on the west coast Thursday when they matched up with the San Diego State Aztecs. The Aztecs scored two goals late in the second half to give them a 2-1 lead and that would eventually be the final.
How it Happened
Early in the first half, the Lakers took a 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman Ryan Mrvcic. The goaltending was solid in the first half for the Lakers as junior Gonzalo Onrubia Delgado made five key saves to keep the Aztecs off the scoreboard in the first half.
The Lakers held a 1-0 lead late into the second half before the Aztecs got on the board with their first goal of the game. The Aztecs scored another goal on a penalty kick just a minute later. The Lakers made a late push down the pitch to get the game-tying goal, but a shot from Callum Cleary missed high.
