Lakers Suffer 3-1 Loss to UC Irvine

Irvine, Ca. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team finished up their west coast road trip with a matchup against UC Irvine.  In a close game throughout, the Lakers ended up falling short in a 3-1 loss to the Anteaters.

How it Happened

The Anteaters scored the lone goal in the first half and Danilo Abayo made a couple of nice saves to prevent the Anteaters from taking an even bigger lead.  Early in the second half, the Anteaters took a 2-0 lead, but the Lakers matched that goal almost immediately as Dylan Sumner found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.  The Anteaters picked up a goal late to put them up by two goals and they would coast the rest of the match.

Highlights

Dylan Sumner scored his first goal of the season in the 62'.

Alvar Silva and Ben Conti picked up assists on the Sumner goal.

Danilo Abayo picked up four saves in the loss.

Next Up

The Lakers will continue their road trip to start the season with a matchup against Cleveland State on Thursday.  Kick-off for that game is set for 7 PM.
