Box Score Dayton, Oh.- Mercyhurst suffered an 8-0 loss on the road to Dayton on Thursday evening. The Lakers are still looking for their footing as they continue to adjust to play at the Division I level.
How it Happened
It didn't take Dayton long to get on the board as the Flyers relentless attack scored four times in the first 11 minutes of action. In the second minute, Jenna Hallbeck scored the first goal for Dayton. Just two minutes later, the Flyers would strike again as Noel Blain scored her first of three goals. Ella Raimondi and Noel scored the other two goals of the first half for the Flyers.
The story in the second half was very similar. Dayton scored four more goals in less than three minutes with Liv Grenda, Noel, Laney Smith and Diana Benigno each putting a point on the board. The final goal came from Avery May in the 84
th minute.
Mia Maruna registered the Lakers lone shot on goal in the matchup.
Highlights
The Lakers have proven that they can put together some solid minutes on the pitch over the last three games, but lapses have cost them. Very rarely does a transition from Division II to Division I athletics go smoothly in the beginning, so experience against top tier team like Dayton will likely prove to be valuable down the stretch as the Lakers near their first NEC action.
