Women's Soccer Falls to Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – Mercyhurst University (1-4-0) fell 6-0 to Ohio University (2-1-0) on Sunday at Chessa Field. Despite the loss, the Lakers managed to record four shots on goal in the match. Coming off a narrow 1-0 victory against RMU in their last game, the Lakers hoped to maintain momentum but faced a formidable opponent in Ohio.
 
The first period began with Ohio taking an early lead when they scored in the 6th minute. The Lakers responded with several attempts, including shots by Camryn Klein and Julia Bullock, but Ohio's goalkeeper saved each effort. Ohio secured a 3-0 advantage with goals at the 27th minute and the 44th minute.
 
Ohio extended its lead over the Lakers in the second period, scoring in the 55th minute, increasing their advantage to 4-0. Ohio added another goal in the 62nd minute, followed by an 85th minute goal with an assist, sealing a 6-0 victory. The Lakers couldn't capitalize despite creating offensive pressure, with shots from Julia Bullock and Jenna Popowski saved by Ohio's goalkeeper.
 
Jenna Popowski recorded two shots on goal in the contest, providing consistent offensive pressure. Klein made her presence felt, adding one shot on goal from the backline. Bullock attempted three shots, showcasing an active presence in the midfield throughout the match. Goalkeeper Adri Lika managed to collect three saves over the course of 90 minutes, facing a total of 19 shots.
