Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team opened their 2024 campaign with a matchup against Pitt.  This was the first ever Division 1 Men's Soccer game for the Lakers.  Two second half goals were the difference in a 2-0 loss for the Lakers.    

How it Happened

After a scoreless first half, and a scoreless first 13 minutes to the second half, the Panthers broke the scoreless tie and got on the board first.  Albert Thorsen picked up the goal that gave the Panthers the lead.  The Panthers added another goal late in the second half, courtesy of Guilherme Feitosa, which padded their lead and made it 2-0.  

Highlights

David Kolar was the lone Laker to put a shot on goal.

Gonzalo Onrubia Delgado picked up four saves in the loss.

The Lakers will head out west for a pair of games, starting with a matchup against San Diego State on Thursday.  They will follow that with a matchup against UC Irvine on Sunday.  The matchup against SDSU will kick-off at 7 PM ET and the matchup against UC Irvine with kick-off at 4 PM ET.
