Foy Named to All-Region Team

5/23/2024 11:00:00 AM

The DII Conference Commissioners Association announced their all-region teams for the 2024 season Thursday morning with the Lakers having one representative. After earning all-conference honors earlier in the season, Corbin Foy now adds to his list of accolades with his inclusion on the Second Team.

Foy was one of the better pitchers in the region all season long, helping him be named to his first all-conference team of his career as a member of the Second Team in early May and now has even more to show with him earning all-region honors as well. He worked his way to a record of 5-1 with an ERA of 1.94 in 51.0 innings of work while fanning 63 batters with each of those being the best on the team. He was a consistent strikeout artist with five or more Ks in eight of his 11 appearances, doing so in five straight outings with a career-high 10 coming against Charleston on the 24th of February. His numbers were not only some of the best on the team, but also the conference, as his ERA and batting average against were second in the PSAC.

For his career, Foy holds an ERA of 3.18 across 110.1 innings of work in 35 games, starting in 18 of them. He has been more than capable to taking care of batters on his own with 134 Ks to his ledger for a K% of 10.9 over the course of his time in a Laker uniform. No matter the role he has been asked to play for the team he has been able to fill it. Foy made his presence felt in his sophomore season out of the bullpen as one of the more reliable arms, pitching in 18.1 innings across 12 games with an ERA of 1.96 to go along with 30 strikeouts. That effort to go along with his work this past season shows that the Niles, Oh. native is more than capable of having success no matter his role like so many Mercyhurst hurlers before him.
