Lakers Open GMAC Play With Pair of Games

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Lacrosse team, standing at a balanced 3-3 for the season, is gearing up for a pair of games against Davis & Elkins College and Walsh. The Lakers, fresh off a victory against Lewis University, are aiming to carry their momentum forward and secure a pair of wins against two Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponents.  

Navigating Through Ups and Downs 

The Lakers' journey this season has been a tale of resilience. Despite facing setbacks against tough opponents early on, the team has demonstrated a strong comeback capability, highlighted by their recent win over Lewis University. This victory was not just about outscoring an opponent; it was a statement of intent from a team determined to rise above their early-season struggles. The Lakers have displayed significant growth in their gameplay, adapting and overcoming challenges, setting the stage for a compelling showdown against two confernce opponents.

Key Lakers Lighting the Path 

  • Ethan Landymore has emerged as a dynamic force on offense, showcasing his scoring prowess with remarkable goals, including a standout four-goal performance in the team's latest victory. His ability to find the back of the net will be crucial in the Lakers' offensive strategy. 

  • Jeremi Phoenix-Lefebvre has been instrumental both in scoring and creating opportunities for his teammates. His dual-threat capability as a scorer and a playmaker adds depth to the Lakers' attack, making him a player to watch in the upcoming game. 

  • Colin Tardif has displayed exceptional versatility on the field, contributing significantly to the team's scoring efforts while also playing a key role in facilitating plays. His all-around performance has been vital in the Lakers' successes thus far. 

  • Lakers Midfield Led by the starting group of Casey Scott, Chase Petschke, and Ryan Mahoney they have shown balance in their attack and demonstrated they are able to attack in a variety of ways. They look to be as productive as they have been in this weekday matchup.  

  • Brett Olney in goal has been the backbone of the Lakers' defense, making crucial saves that have kept the team competitive in tight matchups. His reliability between the pipes will be a key factor against Davis & Elkins.

Davis & Elkins, reflecting on their season thus far, brings forward a team that's finding its rhythm. With a balanced 3-3 record, they've shown they can compete, underscored by players like Xzavier Jankowiak, who has made significant contributions with 15 goals and an assist, and Joshua Allegra, leading with 10 goals and 9 assists, illustrating their offensive threat. 

Walsh enters the matchup with a 2-5 overall record and a 2-0 record in the GMAC. The Cavalier's attack is led by Colby Bowman, who leads the team with 12 goals and 20 points. Adam Tinline leads the team in assists with 9.
