Lock Haven, Pa. - The PSAC released their first edition of their tennis weekly honors for the 2024 season with the Lakers being well represented. For their work in the team's trio of matches this past week, Ben Davis and Roisin Murphy claim the honor.
Davis played in three matches on the week, proving to be an imperative piece in the team's trio of wins. Against Daemen last Tuesday, Davis compete alongside Lukas Cabue Valverde as the team's number two tandem and came away with a dominant 6-0 win to help the team claim their first point. He then got back out on the courts in singles play at the number three spot, winning 6-2, 6-3 over his Wildcat counterpart. The native of Rochester, N.Y. followed that up with a similar performance against Fairmont State in singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 singles victory before rounding out the week with a 6-4 win in doubles and a 6-3, 6-3 victory when going solo against Frostburg State.
Murphy had a similarly dominant week with she and Kayla Dean beginning doubles play with Daemen Wednesday night with a 77-61 win before the junior grabbed a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at the three spot in singles. Murphy did not slow down from there as she recorded a hard-fought 7-5 win in doubles over Fairmont State while earning a 6-1, 6-1 win in singles. She capped off her weekend against Frostburg on Sunday the way she had hoped with a third doubles win, 6-4, before a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win in singles.
The Lakers head south for their next stretch of games. They travel to Raleigh, N.C. on Friday, March 1st, for a contest with the Shaw University Bears before going a little further south to Hilton Head Island, S.C. to see John Carroll on the 6th before Assumption on the 8th.
