MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team traveled to Ohio on Friday to take on the Flyers. Coming into the match at 6-6 with a 4-1 conference record, the Lakers were looking to put in a strong showing in one of their final matches of the regular season.
 
In singles competition, Danylo Rekun competed on the first court where he fell in his opening set 6-2 and was unable to mount a comeback before falling 6-0. Lukas Cabue Valverde fell 6-1 in his first set and eventually fell 6-2 in his final set of the match. Petar Belosevic was looking to continue his strong play entering the final weekend. He fell 6-2 in his opening set, but managed to put in a stronger performance in the second set before falling 7-5. Colm Schultz battled hard on the fourth court where he fell in his first set 6-2, but mounted a 6-4 comeback that forced a third and final set. Schultz ultimately in a tight battle 10-7. Mykhailo Polishchuk fell 6-3 in both of his sets while Nikola Radisic looked to continue his strong play against the Flyers. Radisic fell 6-0 in his first set and battled back in the second set, but fell 6-3.
 
In doubles competition, the Laker duo of Schultz and Polishchuk fell 6-0 on the first court. The team of Rekun and Cabue fell 5-4 in their match, but it ultimately went unfinished. The final Laker team of David Mengher and Raul Davalos fell 6-2 in their set against Dayton.
 
The Flyers ultimately bested the Lakers 7-0.
 
The Blue and Green will next host Ashland as they look to wrap up their regular season at Westwood Racquet Club. The match is set for Monday, April 13 at 12:00 PM.
