Box Score YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team took on the Chicago State Cougars on Friday. After dropping their last NEC matchup to Binghamton on Thursday, the Lakers were looking to rebound and put themselves into a stronger position as the regular season winds down.

In singles competition,
Lukas Cabue Valverde took on his opponent on the first court, where he fell 6-4 in his first set and tried to battle back for the second, but ultimately fell 7-5.
Petar Belosevic fell in his opening set 6-4 as well, but he roared back with a 6-0 win and eventually took the win for the Lakers 10-5.
Colm Schultz earned another win for the Lakers on the third court after dominating his first set 6-1, but fell 6-2 in his second set. Schultz managed to secure the victory for the Blue and Green in a stellar 10-8 performance. Mykhailo Polishchuck dominated his match, winning 6-2 and 6-1 in both sets. Nikola Radisic continued his strong singles play and handily defeated his opponent 6-2 and 6-0. Without a sixth competitor, the Cougars had to forfeit the sixth court match, earning the Lakers another point.

In doubles competition, the duo of Schultz and Belosevic kept their match close on the first court, but fell 6-4. The team of Cabue and
Danylo Rekun put in a strong performance, taking the 6-2 win for the Lakers. The Cougars were forced to forfeit the doubles match due to being short one competitor.

The Lakers ultimately defeated the Cougars 6-1.
