Box Score ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team hosted Ashland to cap off their regular season on Monday. After dropping their matchup against Dayton on Friday, the Lakers were looking to end their regular season on a high note at home.
 
In singles competition, senior Danylo Rekun put in an impressive performance against his opponent, coming away with a pair of 6-2 wins on the first court. Over on the second court, Lukas Cabue Valverde swept his opening set 6-0 and secured another Laker win with a 6-2 final in the second set. Petar Belosevic put in another strong performance on his court, winning 6-2 and 6-3 in his match. Colm Schultz competed in a lengthy battle where he fell 6-3 in the first set, but managed to even the match with a 6-3 win of his own in the following set. Schultz came away victorious after a dominant 10-1 tiebreaker. Mykhailo Polishchuk put in a solid performance for the Lakers, winning 6-2 and 6-1 in his match. Nikola Radisic rounded out the Laker competition on the sixth court where he came away with a pair of 6-1 wins.
 
In doubles competition, the team of Belosevic and Schultz claimed a tight 6-4 victory for the Lakers while the team of Rekun and Cabue narrowly earned their 7-5 win against the Eagles. In the final doubles match of the day, David Mengher and Raul Davalos kept their match close, but ultimately fell 6-4.
 
The Lakers claimed an impressive 7-0 win over Ashland to conclude their regular season competition.
 
The Blue and Green will next participate in the NEC Tennis Championship as the 3^rd seed. Competition is set to begin Thursday, April 16 in West Windsor, New Jersey.
