Erie, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers Women's Ice Hockey team capped off a stellar performance with a convincing 4-1 win over the New Hampshire Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. Fueled by Jade Maisonneuve and Marielle Parks performances, the Lakers improved to 7-9-1 on the season.
How It Happened:
After a scoreless opening period, Mercyhurst struck first at 7:23 of the second period when Marielle Parks found the back of the net, assisted by Mary Kromer and Henlee Mahoney. New Hampshire responded quickly, tying the game at 10:43 with an even-strength goal by Sara Boucher, assisted by Kelly Harty and Marina Alvarez.
The Lakers regained the lead late in the second period at 18:05 with an unassisted goal by Jade Maisonneuve, which proved to be the game-winner. Mercyhurst extended their advantage early in the third period at 5:04, as Maisonneuve scored her second goal of the game, with assists from Makayla Javier and Sofia Ljung.
With the Wildcats pressing in the final minutes, Parks sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:41, marking her second tally of the game.
