Women's Hockey Heads to Lindenwood for Second AHA Series

The Mercyhurst women's hockey team travels to Missouri to take on the Lindenwood Lions. This is their second conference series of the season as the Lakers look to continue their strong play from Saturday's matchup with Syracuse. Puck drops are set for 3 PM (EDT) on Thursday and 1 PM (EDT) on Friday.
 
Previous Results
The Lakers are 3-3-0 through their first three weekends of competition, one of which brought a series split with Syracuse, bringing the Laker conference record to 1-1-0. The Lakers began the season 2-0 thanks to a homecoming weekend sweep over RPI. The following weekend, the Lakers traveled to Minnesota Duluth to take on the Bulldogs, where the Lakers fell 2-0 and 4-0. Looking to bounce back at home against Syracuse, the Lakers put in a dominant 5-2 win after falling to Syracuse in game one.
 
Matchup History
The Lakers have largely dominated their overall series with Lindenwood with a record of 51-10-1. The most striking aspect of this record is the Mercyhurst home record, which currently stands at 29-1-1. The Lakers have scored 261 goals thus far against the Lions, which averages out to 4.21 goals per game. In their most recent matchup in the AHA Playoffs, the Lakers came away with the series win thanks to a 2-1 win in game one and a thrilling 3-2 2OT win in game two.
 
Lakers to Look Out For
Mariia Polozkova is coming off a weekend that saw her named the AHA Rookie of the Week. In Saturday's win against Syracuse, Polozkova netted three points (2G, 1A) and she posted a +4 rating on the offensive end for the Lakers. As a result, Polozkova now has six points thus far, registering a point per game off of three goals and three assists. On September 19th, Polozkova netted her first career college goal, one of three points she earned that weekend.
 
Julia Perjus has continued her strong season for the Lakers, registering five points (3G, 2A) over six games. On the defensive end, Perjus has been one of the most reliable forwards for the Lakers, blocking eight shots. During last weekend's series with Syracuse, Perjus scored her first short-handed goal of the season, bringing the score to 2-0 early in Saturday's game.
 
Halle Duchene has been off to a strong start for the Lakers. The freshman forward has collected five points (1G, 4A) for the Lakers thus far. Three of these assists came in Saturday's matchup with Syracuse. Against RPI on September 19th, Duchene recorded her first college goal, one of two points she earned that afternoon.
 
Magdalena Luggin has been a consistent performer in net for the Lakers, registering a 3-3-0 record thus far. Between the pipes, Luggin is averaging 1.68 goals per game as well as a save percentage of .935. To this point, Luggin has one shutout, which came on September 19th against RPI.
 
Lindenwood Quick Hits
  • The Lions finished the 2025-26 season at 14-21-2 and an AHA record of 11-12-1, with a goal differential of -24 (95GF, 119GA).
