Lakers and Sharks Held to 0-0 Deadlock

Erie, PA – The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team hosted the Long Island University Sharks this afternoon. Fifteen total shots were unable to find the back of the net as the score ended in a 0-0 draw.

How it Happened
The first action of the match happened in the first five minutes when Stephane Njike had his shot saved by Danilo Abayo. The half ended 0-0 with LIU registering six shots and Mercyhurst registering three. The biggest highlight of the half was Danilo Abayo making six crucial saves.

The second half was a little slower than the first without much action happening. Both sides were struggling to generate offensive play as both defenses were having a tremendous performance. In the 76th minute, Mercyhurst had two shots blocked before a Frank Lovett missed a shot low to the left in the 78th minute.

The closest LIU came to breaking the deadlock was in the 84th when Danilo made a spectacular save to deny Alan Martinez from finding the winner. A rather frustrating afternoon for both sides resulted in a 0-0 draw.
