Waterloo, NY– The Mercyhurst Rowing team traveled up to Hobart and William Smith College for a Challenge on the Canal. The team took home a few first-place finishes in their first race of the year.
How it Happened
First on the water for the Lakers was the Women's four boat, the boat consisted of Madie Taylor (C), Jordane Hynes (1), Nayila Harris (2), Julia Schultz (3), and Thea Felsner (4). The women's four took home first place with a time of 19:38.0 beating second place William Smith by 30 seconds.
Next on the water for the Lakers was the Freshman eight, the boat consisted of Brayden Pinkham (1), Josh Cole (2), Liam Wise (3), Oliver Stover (4), Anthony Depinto (5), Leo Adamov (6), Jovan Saric (7), Marko Dojcinovic (8), and Lucas Caine (C). The freshman eight also took home first place with a time of 14:54.9 beating Hobart by 20 seconds.
The third boat on the water for Mercyhurst was the Men's Varsity four, the boat consisted of Tim Silverman (1), Cole Bardeschewski (2), Luka Loncar (3), Ralph Kasow (4), and Keri Manning (C). The four finished in second place just .3 seconds behind first place Hobart.
The fourth boat on the water for the Lakers was the Men's pair, the boat consisted of Bogdan Protic (B) and Isaac Feldman. The pair finished in fourth with a time of 17:32.4 and only six seconds from second and third finishes.
The next two boats on the water for the Lakers were the Men's Varsity single, the first single consisted of Ivan Katic, and the second single consisted of Nate Harris. Ivan Katic took home the first-place finish with a time of 18:49.1, and Nate Harris took second with a time of 18:51.6.
The last two boats on the water for the day were the Men's Varsity eights, the first varsity eight consisted of Ralph Kasow (1), Bogdan Protic (2), Marko Dojcinovic (3) Luka Loncar (4), Nate Harris (5), Ivan Katic (6), Isaac Feldman (7), Dusan Belic (8), and Emily McCauley (C). The second varsity eight consisted of Tim Silverman (1), Shane Kelly (2), Brayden Pinkham (3), Leo Adamov (4), Anthony Depinto (5), Cole Bardeschewski (6), Jovan Saric (7), Oliver Stover (8), and Keri Manning (C). The first varsity eight finished in second place with a time of 14:40.3 and being about eight seconds off first place. The second varsity eight finished in fourth with a time of 15:28.6 also trailing Hobart's second varsity eight about six seconds.
