Easton, MA - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer traveled to Massachusetts this afternoon for a contest against the Stonehill College Skyhawks. The Lakers took a 3-0 lead just 20 minutes into the match. However, the Skyhawks fought back to score three of their own as the match ended in a 3-3 draw.
How it Happened
Mercyhurst had an early chance in the opening minute when
Lockie Fay struck the post and
Dylan Sumner's rebound was saved by Ryan Claffey.
Lockie Fay had another chance in the eleventh minute. He received the ball with a great turn and fired from outside the penalty area, but Ryan Claffey got down quickly to keep the score level at 0-0. However, that scoreline did not last long.
Alvar Silva slipped past his defender, found an inch or two of space, and found the bottom corner of the net to put the Lakers up 1-0 in the 13th minute of the match.
In the 19th minute
Mario Ganser played an incisive ball into the foot of
Carver Tierney. Tierney displayed a bit of individual brilliance as he turned and fired a great shot to the left corner of the net to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Mercyhurst found a third as they quickly dispossessed the Skyhawks.
Alvar Silva found
Luis Felipe Santos who beat his man and calmly placed the ball in the back of the net.
Stonehill got one back in the 27th minute after Owen Burke played a great flick into Colin Hargraves who found Colin Milliken for the goal. Back forth play for the remainder of the half left the score at 3-1 in favor of the Lakers at halftime.

Mario Ganser in the 59th minute. Colin Milliken stood over this penalty kick and slotted the ball past
Danilo Abayo, who dove the right way, to give the Skyhawks their second goal.
