10/11/2024 2:30:00 PM

Erie, Pa.- The Mercyhurst Men's Water Polo team is ready to return to action after having a week off. They're set to travel to Emmittsburg, Md. and Lewisburg, Pa. for battles with Mount St. Mary's, George Washington, John Hopkins and Bucknell.

Battling on the Road
The Lakers have started out with a 4-10 record in the 2024 season, but they've had some tough matchups. Last time out, they lost Fordham and Navy, both teams are nationally ranked. Mercyhurst's path doesn't look to get any easier as they continue their first season at the Division I level. This weekend., they travel south for four matchups. The first comes against Mount St. Mary's, who the Lakers have already seen once this season. The last time the squads met, Mount St. Mary's took a 17-10 decision. Since they last met, Mount St. Mary's has not recorded another win.

Mercyhurst will then meet up with George Washington, who they opened the season against with a 17-8 loss. They currently sit at .500 but have gone 5-6 since the teams last saw on another. The last game the Lakers will play in Emmittsburg will be against John Hopkins, another familiar foe. The Lakers dropped a close match with them, 21-18, in their second game of the 2024 season. They'll be looking to get some production from the trio of Petar Vujovic, Owen Hardner and Asher Jones as they look for their first ever conference win at the Division I level. They close the weekend out with a match at Bucknell, who beat them 20-5 their last time out.

Next Game

After they wrap up this weekend, the Lakers travel to Providence, RI. where they'll face Navy, Wagner, LIU and Brown. The action starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th.
