Cherry Hill, N.J. - Mercyhurst Rowing rounded out their time in the Dad Vails Saturday afternoon on a high note with the team claiming one gold and two silver medals.
How It Happened
Women's fours were first in the water with the team winning their first race of the day, coming in with a time of 7:52.543 to defeat D'Youville, Rollins, Massachusetts Maritime, and Nazareth. They then moved on to the Grand Final where they also claimed the top spot, earning them a gold medal with a time of 7:37.194.
Men's lightweight fours competed for the James J. Lynch Trophy against Delaware, Fairfield, Fordham, Iona, and Gordon with the Lakers coming in fourth place, finishing at 6:50.094. Men's varsity fours were next up with the team coming in second in a tightly contested event in the Petite Final. The team came in behind only Oklahoma City who finished with a time of 6:36.332 while Mercyhurst came in at 6:49.570. Men's lightweight eights finished out the competition against MIT with the two competing for the Thomas W. Loschiavo Trophy. The Lakers stuck around with MIT for much of the race, but they ultimately came in right behind with a time of 5:53.365.
What's Next
The women turn their attention to the NCAA Championships in Cherry Hill, N.J. on May 26th and 27th with their selection show taking place this upcoming Tuesday, May 16th, at 5:30 p.m. The men now see the IRA Championships in West Windsor, N.J. from June 2nd through the 4th.
