Marietta, Oh. - Mercyhurst Rowing competed for the second straight weekend with the team traveling to take part in the Marietta Invite, racing against Adrian, Marietta, and Purdue with the Lakers winning a handful of races to wrap up the weekend
Men's varsity eights defeated Marietta by 15 seconds with a time of 5:59.5 while adding a vicotry over Adrian to their line later in the day, posting a time of 5:54.4 while Adrian finished at 6:17.6.
"We appreciate Marietta Head Coach, Greg Myhr, and his staff for hosting us this weekend," said Director of Rowing Adrian Spracklen.
Varsity fours followed suit with a trio of wins of their own. They started off with a time of 6:53.2 to defeat two teams from Marietta with their two boats coming in at 6:56.9 and 7:05.5. The Lakers then came in with a time of 6:27.0 to grab win number two. Heavyweight fours posted a time of 6:21.8 in the finals, rounding out the day for the men's boats.
"The team performed well today and is making progress as we move into the last few weeks of the regular season," said Spracklen. "Despite winning today, we still have work to do, but we are on the right path."
The women raced in a trio of races with wins in two of them as varsity eights came ahead of Purdue and Marietta with a time of 6:49.44 while fours came in first at 7:14.7, finishing more than 35 seconds in front of the Boilermakers.
"This next couple of weeks will be crucial if we are to achieve the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season," said Spracklen when looking ahead at the season schedule.

Mercyhurst men's rowing rounds out the month of April with the MACRA Championships on Sunday, April 30th, in Indianapolis, In. while the women participate in the Canisius Invite on the same day.
