Oakridge, Tn. - Mercyhurst men's and women's rowing ended their weekend the way they had hoped, turning in a strong performance on day two of the SIRAs. The Lakers sent six boats onto the water with four of them collecting hardware with a trio of silver place finishes while the men's lightweight fours claimed the top spot in their finale.
How it Happened
Men's twos got things started for the Lakers off on the right foot with the team of Cole Bardeschewski and Anthony DePinto coming away with silver in their final with a time of 7:22.620, coming in behind only Stetson. From there, men's lightweight fours kept the ball rolling with a strong performance in their final, taking first place with a time of 6:50.165, nine seconds faster than second-place Alabama.
Next in the water for the Lakers was the women's varsity fours with the team coming in fifth in their final with a time of 8:03.461 in a race that saw Kansas State, FIT, and Tampa take the top three spots. Men's varsity fours were up next, racing just after noon and claiming the third podium finish and second silver of the day, coming in behind only WashU with a time of 6:44.164.
The varsity eights for both the men and women rounded out the day for the Lakers with the women's team coming in fifth in their race, registering a time of 6:53.228 in a race tha at saw Louisville take first while Kansas Sate and Jacksonville rounded out the top three. The men's eights ended up grabbing the third silver of the day for Mercyhurst with the squad turning in a time of 6:06.703 with only Purdue's time of 6:01.471 being better.

The Lakers have one more race in the month of April with both the men and the women set to compete in the in the MACRAs. The team goes west for that race on Sunday, April 28th, in Indianapolis, In., looking to solidify their spot in the rankings against some of the better boats in the country.
