Cherry Hill, N.J. - Mercyhurst Rowing finished out their time in the Knecht Cup the way they had hoped with a number of strong showings and three gold medal finishes as men's varsity fours claimed two of the top podium places to begin Sunday while women's eights finished first as well.
How It Happened
The Lakers began in lane two in men's varsity fours for the Grand Final and were able to claim the victory with a time of 6:45.36, defeating second-place Drexel by more than four seconds as they crossed with a time of 6:49.93 and kicking off a stellar day for Mercyhurst. Men's fours took home their second goal medal of the day in the Finals with a time of 7:01.78 to defeat Adrian, Stockton, and USMMA as the Laker's day continued to get better.
Women's eights competed against Central Oklahoma, Seattle Pacific, Thomas Jefferson, Lafayette, and Army with the Lakers coming out on top with a time of 7:00.63 to beat Central Oklahoma across the finish line by just five tenths of a second. Men's varsity eights rounded out the day for Mercyhurst with a strong showing of their own, coming in fourth with a time of 5:59.70 as MIT came in first, Drexel second, and La Salle in third in the Grand Final.

"I thought the team really made some really good adjustments from yesterday's races and the great performances reflected that," said Director of Rowing Adrian Spracklen. "We still have a lot of work to do, but we are on track and that's exciting."
