Boston, Mass. - College Hockey America has announced their weekly honors today and Makayla Javier and Sofia Nuutinen were among the players honored this week. 

Makayla Javier earned her first CHA Defender of the Week honor after her performance in the Lakers series sweep over Lindenwood. Javier finished the weekend with a goal and two assists, which were her first three points of the season. Javier is the second Laker to earn Defender of the Week honors this season.  

Sofia Nuutinen earned her third CHA Rookie of the Week honor after her six-point weekend in the Lakers series sweep. Nuutinen scored twice while adding an assist in Friday's win, while adding a goal and two assists in the game two win on Saturday. Two of Nuutinen's goals came by way of the powerplay. Nuutinen continues to play well and contribute in a big way in her first year with the Lakers. 

Javier and Nuutinen have helped the Lakers win three of their last four games and are now sitting in second in the CHA with 10 points. The Lakers will return to action on January 5, when they host Yale for a non-conference series inside the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
