Erie, Pa. - Mercyhurst men's water polo travels to Wylan Park, WV to open November to compete in the WWPA Conference Weekend, hosted by Salem. The Lakers play a total of three games on the weekend with things kicking off with Salem at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th when they see Salem followed by a6:00 p.m. contest with Gannon before finishing out things on Sunday with McKendree at 9:00 a.m.
A Look Back
Mercyhurst just wrapped up the WWPA Erie Classic this past weekend to end October, seeing the same three opponents. The Lakers started off with a loss to crosstown rivals, Gannon, 11-9 before a 29-13 defeat at the hands of Salem followed by a tight 14-10 loss to McKendree. Coach MacDougall and company hope to turn things around and get some revenge on their conference counterparts in the new month.
Scouting Gannon
The Golden Knights are 7-8 on the season and 1-2 in conference play after this past weekend with their lone WWPA win coming over the Lakers. They and McKendree played in a tightly contested 18-16 game that went the Bearcats way while their matchup with Salem finished in a loss to put Gannon just under the .500 mark for the season.
Scouting Salem
The Tigers are now 15-3 on the year after a clean sweep in the WWPA Erie Classic. Salem has hit their stride of late with five-straight wins and hope to continue their winning ways in three more contests against WWPA opponents. The team is led by Nikola Krstonosic, Marko Zivojinovic, and Ivan Zivojinovic with all three Tigers having over 90 points on the season with Krstonosic leading the way with over 130 to make for a dangerous trio.
Scouting McKendree
The Bearcats are now 7-10 on the year after going 2-1 in the WWPA Erie Classic with wins over the two Erie-based teams, 18-16 and 14-10. McKendree had seen plenty of time off in the month of October with their trek to Erie for a trio of game being the first time the team had competed in the month. That time off seemed to help the team and they hope they'll be rested once again for their games in West Virginia.
Next Game
Mercyhurst eyes a home game with Penn State Behrend after their trip to Wylan Park. The Lakers will play host to PSB on Saturday, November 11th in a 6:00 p.m. game that will serve as the team's senior day.
