Men's Soccer Travels for Final Road Games of Regular Season

Erie, Pa. - The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team will hit this road this week as they travel to UPJ on Wednesday, followed by traveling to Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Lakers are currently 11-2-1 with only three regular-season games remaining. The Lakers are looking to get their momentum back before the end of the regular season and the start of the PSAC tournament.  

History Lesson 

Earlier in the month, the Lakers played both UPJ and Slippery Rock. The Lakers beat UPJ 4-1 at home and beat Slippery Rock 3-1 at home. In the game against UPJ, the Lakers got down 1-0 early in the game and scored four unanswered goals to get the win. Dylan Sumner had a hat-trick and Frank Lovett had two assists. In the game against Slippery Rock, it was tied 1-1 early in the second half and the Lakers scored two goals in the second half to come away with the win. Dylan Sumner scored two goals in the game.  

Flashback 

The Lakers went 0-1-1 this past week with a tie against Gannon and a loss to Seton Hill. In the game against Gannon, the Lakers were down 3-2 late in the game. Jorge Tallada Torres scored with ten minutes left in the game to tie the game and get come out of that game with a tie. Ignacio Gallego had a goal and an assist, and Jorge Tallada Torres added an assist on top of the game-tying goal he scored. In the game against Seton Hill, Seton Hill scored late in the game to take a 1-0 lead and that was all the scoring for the game as Seton Hill came away with the upset win.  

Stats Leaders 

Dylan Sumner leads the Lakers in goals with twelve. Andreas Rossak and Ignacio Gallego are tied for second in goals with six. Frank Lovett leads the team in assists with seven. Dylan Sumner, Andreas Rossak, and Jorge Tallada Torres are all tied for second in assists with three. Jamie Tedaldi is 8-1-1 in net with 15 saves.  

A Look at the Opponents 

UPJ is 3-6-1 on the year. Anson Portzline leads UPJ in goals with four and assists with five. Slippery Rock is 5-5-4 on the season and are currently on a three-game winning streak. They are 4-2-1 at home on the year. Aitor Jorde and Arturo Pla Hernandis are tied for the team lead in goals with eight. Luke Gildea and Shaun Spencer are tied for the team lead in assists with four.
