Erie, Pa – Mercyhurst Women's Soccer is scheduled to continue their season with two games this week. They take on non-conference opponent Daemen on Wednesday, September 28
th and follow that with a matchup against Clarion on Friday, September 30
th.
PSAC West Standings
After last week's loss to the Lady Knights and a tie with IUP, the Lakers fell to the second spot in the PSAC West Standings. Gannon currently sits at the top with 5-0-2 record and 17 points, as they are followed by Mercyhurst with 5-1-2 record and the same number of points. Seton Hill takes the third spot with 12 points and IUP is fourth with ten. The Lakers still have eight conference games left and they are scheduled to finish the regular season with a game against Gannon on October 26
th, which will likely decide the regular season PSAC West winner.
History Lesson
In the past matchups with Daemen, the Lakers boast an impressive 6-1 record. However, the last game those two teams played each other ended with Daemen beating Mercyhurst by a score of 1-0. The Lakers are looking to avenge that loss from last year on Wednesday.
The Lakers have already beaten Clarion once this season, as
Emily Mijares scored a game-winning goal on the road. Moreover, Mercyhurst won their last six games against the Golden Eagles and hope to make it seven on Friday.

Maddie Elbro has been a key to the good performance on the defensive side, as she recorded 32 saves and allowed eight goals.
Scouting The Opponents
Daemen haven't won a game so far this season, as they are coming into Wednesday game with 0-7-1 record. They scored only two goals this season and allowed 16. They are a young squad and are still looking for their identity as a team.
The Golden Eagles currently boast a 2-7 record, as they defeated IUP last week and lost to Slippery Rock as well. They sit at the last spot in PSAC West Standings and are struggling this season. They scored four goals and allowed eleven. Freshman Katelyn Shaffer leads the team with one goal and one assist.
The Lakers get ready for a busy stretch as they take on Daemen this Wednesday, September 28
th at Mercyhurst Soccer Field. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm. They follow that with another home game with Clarion on Friday, September 30
th.
