Charleston, W.Va.—The Mercyhurst Women's Golf team ended the first day of the Charleston Invitation in third place with a team total of 315.
Kymberly Henry paced the Lakers with a team best 4-over 76. She drained three birdies and made no double-bogeys. She finished the day tied for fourth.
Right behind Henry were
Isabella Walter and
Sofia Carrizosa who both shot 79. Walter birdied 18 to play the back 2-over. Carrizosa birdied the fifth hole to make her split (39-40).
Sophomore
Alyssa Ballaro and junior
Lauren Dearment each carded one birdie to shoot 81 (42-39) and 83 (37-46) respectively.
Playing as an individual, senior
Hannah Mensch posted birdies on 4 and 16 to card her best collegiate 18-hole round of 83.
Lena Jones (I) rounded out the Lakers shotting 86 (44-42) with a birdie on 9.
The Lakers tee off at 8 a.m. again tomorrow.
