Men’s Lacrosse to Conclude Regular Season at Davis & Elkins

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's Lacrosse team will be back on the field tomorrow when they travel to Elkins, West Virginia to take on Davis & Elkins in their final regular season contest of the season.

Laker Overview

The Lakers will look to regroup after losing only their third game of the season last week to No.7 Indianapolis by an 11-8 margin. The loss snapped a eight game winning streak for the green and white and was their first loss since February 26th when then top ranked Le Moyne took the Lakers down 10-9.

The Lakers are still ranked top-10 in the country, checking in at No.7 in the latest USILA rankings. All three of their losses this season have come against opponents who have been ranked 7th or higher.

Scouting Davis & Elkins

The Senators will enter Thursday's contest with a 2-10 overall record with a 1-3 mark in conference play. Their two wins have come against D'Youville and Alderson Broaddus. The last time that the Lakers and Senators matched up was back in April of last year, Mercyhurst came away with a 30-2 victory.

Davis & Elkins has been led on attack this season by Senior Nolan Morrison who has collected a team-high 30 goals and 15 assists for 45 points. Joshua Csanyi has started 11 of the 12 Senator games this year. He has earned 202 saves this season on a 53.9 save percentage and a 15.92 GAA.

GMAC Playoffs

The Lakers officially clinched  the No.1 seed in the GMAC Postseason Tournament two weeks ago when they dismantled Alderson Broaddus 22-2. The Lakers will now host either Lake Erie or Walsh in the GMAC Semifinals on May 4th. Seton Hill has clinched the No.2 seed and will host the higher seed of Lake Erie or Walsh in the other semifinal which will be played in Greensburg.

If the Lakers advance into the Championship, they will host the winner of the other semifinal on Saturday, May 7th at Saxon Stadium.

Potential Record Breaker

Mercyhurst sophomore attack Ethan Landymore will have the opportunity to break the Mercyhurst All-Time Single Season Goal record against Davis and & Elkins tomorrow. The Calgary Alberta native is sitting on 53 goals through 12 games, which gives him 4.42 goals per game to lead the nation. Landymore just needs four more scores to break Caleb Kueber's record mark of 56 goals which he set last season.
