Men’s Tennis Rolls Past West Virginia Wesleyan 7-0

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis Team claimed victory over the visiting West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats in what was their final tune up before the start of the PSAC Tournament on Friday.

The Lakers claimed two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches on the day. The tandem of Ben Davis and Noha De Sousa Pereira won 6-3 and Hristo Plasheski and Morris Haab won 6-2 to secure the lone point awarded from the doubles matches.

In singles, David Akinpetide was a winner at the No.1 position by a 6-3,4-6,6-0 score. Ben Davis followed behind him at the No.2 spot with a three set win of his own, 7-5,2-6,6-3. The Lakers took the remaining four singles matches in straight sets as Milan Jankovic won by a 6-4,6-3 score, and De Sousa won by a 6-3,6-2 margin at the No.4 slot. Plasheski won his match 7-5,6-0 and Haab was victorious 6-0,6-2.

The Lakers will be back in action in the PSAC semifinals later this week against Millersville.
