Men's Tennis Victorious in Olean; Wins Third Straight

Box Score OLEAN, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team traveled to Olean, New York to take on the Bonnis on Tuesday. After a pair of wins over the weekend, the Lakers were looking to continue their momentum as they approach more conference play in the coming weeks.
 
In singles competition, Danylo Rekun competed on the first court where he found an impressive 6-2 opening set win. He was able to close out the Laker victory after winning 6-4 in his final set. Lukas Cabue Valverde was on the second court where he fell to an early 6-0 deficit to the Bonnies. Cabue attempted to mount a comeback in the second set, but ultimately fell 6-4. Colm Schultz was on the third court and had an early disadvantage after falling 6-1 in the opening frame. Schultz roared back with a 6-4 win, but eventually fell in the final frame. Mykhailo Polishchuck took his match to three sets after falling 6-3, eventually winning the final two sets 6-3. Nikola Radisic continued his impressive play with a dominating pair of 6-0 victories on the fifth court. David Mengher also had a strong performance for the Lakers, coming away with 6-0 and 6-2 victories on the day.
 
In doubles competition, the team of Schultz and Raul Davalos claimed a victory for the Lakers on the first court by a score of 7-6 with a 9-7 tiebreaker. The team of Cabue and Rekun fell on the second court 6-3 with Mengher and Radisic solidified the Lakers doubles victory by winning their match 6-1.
 
The Lakers ultimately defeated the Bonnies 5-2, marking their third consecutive win.
 
The Blue and Green will next host the Red Flash from Saint Francis on Friday, March 27 at Westwood Racquet Club. Start time set for 5:00 PM.
