ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst men's tennis team hosted Saint Francis on Friday for their third NEC matchup of the season. After claiming victory in three consecutive outings, the Lakers were looking to continue their momentum as they headed into the final stretch of games.

In singles competition, reigning NEC Player of the Week
Danylo Rekun took his match to three sets on the first court, where he fell in the opening set 6-3 before battling back with a pair of 6-3 victories. On the second court,
Lukas Cabue Valverde dominated in his first set, winning 6-0 before claiming victory in the final set by a score of 6-4.
Petar Belosevic competed on the third court, where he came away with 6-4 and 6-1 wins for the Lakers.
Colm Schultz fell in his opening set 6-4 before rebounding with a 6-4 win of his own, but eventually fell in a 10-2 tiebreaker. Mykhailo Polishchuck fell in his opening set 6-2 before battling to a 6-4 win. He ultimately fell in a 12-10 tiebreaker in the third and final set. Reigning NEC Rookie of the Week Nikola Radisic had another strong performance for the Lakers, winning 6-2 and 6-3 in both of his sets.

In doubles competition, the team of Schultz and Belosevic competed on the first court, but fell in a tight 7-5 battle. The second Laker duo of Rekun and Cabue came away with a 6-3 victory on their court while
David Mengher and
Raul Davalos won the third court with a 6-3 victory.

The Blue and Green continued their strong play with a 5-2 win over Saint Francis.

The Lakers will host Binghamton next for an NEC matchup at Westwood Racquet Club Thursday, April 2. Start time set for 11:00 AM.
