Erie, Pa – The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis team will be back in action this week, first traveling to West Liberty on Tuesday followed by a dual with PSAC foe Shepherd on Sunday.
Laker Overview
Last week the Lakers went a perfect 3-0 by posting wins against Fairmont State, West Chester, and Millersville.
Noha De Sousa Pereira, and
Ben Davis recorded three wins in singles each while also posting three wins as a doubles tandem. Additionally for the Lakers,
Morris Haab,
Hristo Plasheski, and
Milan Jankovic all posted three wins in singles play.
Scouting West Liberty
The Hilltoppers of West Liberty will enter Tuesday dual with the Lakers holding a 7-2 team record in the spring season. Four of their seven wins have come via a shutout including their two most recent matches as they posted 4-0 wins against Salem and Berry College.
Scouting Shepherd
The Rams have begun their 2022 Spring season with a 3-0 team record, winning all three of their matches last week in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The last time that Shepherd and Mercyhurst matched up with one another was in late March of 2021, that match saw the Lakers shutout the Rams 7-0.
Latest ITA Rankings
In the latest ITA Division II rankings, the Lakers top doubles pair of
David Akinpetide and
Milan Jankovic came in as the 36th national ranked duo. The two will look to continue their doubles success this week.

Following this week of play the Lakers will return to action next week with two duals scheduled, the first against West Virginia Wesylan on Friday, April 1st. The Following day the Lakers will take on Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
