Men’s Tennis Drops Matchup with No. 21 Charleston

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis team took a home loss, 6-1, to No. 21 Chaleston Friday night at the Westwood Racquet Club.

How it Happened

The No. 5 doubles pair in the nation, John Giesberts and Marshall Dagostine, helped Charleston to an early 6-3 win, and Daniel Llorente and Krish Patel secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at second doubles. Mercyhurst's third doubles pair, Hristo Plasheski and Morris Haab did not give up, forcing a tiebreak before eventually falling 7-6 (7-3).

In singles play, Noha DeSousa Pereira picked up a win at No. 5 singles over Lennert Stevens. Ben Davis and Plasheski put up fights at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, respectively, but each fell 4-6, 5-7 as the Lakers dropped five singles matches to lose 6-1.
