Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis team continued their dominant weekend as they swept all nine matches against visiting West Virginia State on Sunday afternoon at the Westwood Racquet Club.
How it Happened
The Lakers were in excellent form Sunday, with David Akinpetide and Milan Jankovic winning 6-2, Ben Davis and Noha DeSousa Pereira winning 6-3 and Hristo Plasheski and Morris Haab winning 6-1 in the doubles matches, respectively.
In singles action, the fifth and sixth singles spots finished first as Pereira earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory and Juan Carlos Hernandez Briones shutout the competition for a 6-0, 6-0 win.
The top two singles spots followed, with Davis securing a 6-1, 6-3 win and Akinpetide continuing his unbeaten streak in singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Plasheski finished next, winning at fourth singles 6-1, 7-5. Jankovic was last off the court after playing two competitive sets and winning 7-5, 6-4.

The men and women will play once more at home before an extended stretch of road duals. They will host the University of Charleston Feb. 25 at the Westwood Racquet Club.
