Men’s Tennis Falls at Home to Le Moyne

Erie, Pa.—The Mercyhurst Men's Tennis team dropped their first home match of the season, 5-1, to Le Moyne Friday morning at Westwood Racquet Club.

How it Happened

The Lakers dropped the doubles point after only earning a win at number two doubles. Ben Davis, a transfer from Daemen College (NY), and Noha DeSousa Pereira paired up to win 6-3.

In singles play, graduate student David Akinpetide earned the only Mercyhurst point with a three-set (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) win at number two singles. Pereira won his first set at number six singles 6-2, but dropped the second set 6-4 and fell 6-2 in the third.

At number four singles, Hristo Plasheski was also headed for a third set after winning the first and dropping the second, but with the team match decided the two players elected not to finish.

Up Next

The men and women will host Salem University at Westwood Racquet Club on Friday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
