Boston, Ma. - Mercyhurst Rowing put together a solid outing on Sunday, October 23rd, in the Head of the Charles. The Lakers found themselves on the podium once at the finish of the event as they started the 2022-23 campaign the way they hoped.
How it Happened
Men's lightweight fours were the first to compete on Sunday with the Lakers having a boat of Mitchell Fussell (1), George Maragkos (2), Zachary Porter (3), Dusan Belic (4), and Joseph Talarico (c). The team ended up finishing in ninth place with a time of 16:15.376.
The reigning national champion women's eight picked up right where they left off with them claiming gold in their race. The boat of Emma Lassig (1), Teagan Spracklen (2), Blythe Lyons (3), Autumn Kearny (4), Elizabeth Northrup (5), Ann Kathrin Mueller (6), Maclain Zajicek (7), Erin Jackson (8), and Seanna Zona (c) led throughout the race with them winning first with a time of 16:32.228.
Mercyhurst rounded out their day with men's fours, finishing 15th. The team of Matthew Wnek (1), Nate Harris (2), Ethan Debasitis (3), Christopher Daniell (4), and Michael Cannavo (c) were able to come in with a time of 16:59.750 to finish their first competition of the year.

The Lakers have a quick turnaround with their next race set for Saturday, October 29th, when they compere in the Turn of the Bear in Ithaca, N.Y. to finish out their fall portion of the 2022-23 schedule.Â
