LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Unai Amilleta Gonzalez was named Player of the Year and head coach Jerome Simon was selected as Coach of the Year headlining four Lakers on the All-PSAC teams announced Friday morning by the conference office.
Gonzalez was a first-team singles selection while David Akinpetide and Milan Jankovic each earned second-team honors as singles players.
The team of Akinpetide and Jankovic were selected as a first-team doubles honorees while Areseniy Sklyarov and Gonzalez were tabbed as second-team choices.
Simon was named PSAC Coach of the Year for the third time since taking over Laker tennis programs. He led Mercyhurst to the PSAC Regular Season title and the PSAC Championship match.
Gonzalez was named PSAC Player of the Year and first-team all-conference selection after posting a 12-0 singles record. He only dropped one set the entire season. Gonzalez was 8-0 playing number one singles and 4-0 playing number two.
Akinpetide was 3-2 in conference play and finished the year with a 6-7 overall record. Jankovic tallied an 8-5 record on the season. Akinpetide and Jankovic combined to go 7-6 as a doubles team.
Sklyarov and Gonzalez played 12 matches at number two doubles and posted a 10-2 record including a 2-0 mark in the PSAC postseason.
