Men's Soccer Completes Perfect Season

Erie, PA--The Mercyhurst Men's Soccer team closed out their spring season with a 3-0 win against the Seton Hill Griffins.

In the first half the Lakers controlled play for the most part and were able to outshoot the Griffins 10-3 in the first 45.

Mercyhurst goalkeeper Mattias Odelius saw his first action with about 18 minutes remaining in the opening half. Just three minutes later Odellius needed to make his second save of the afternoon to keep the game tied at zero.

Towards the end of the first half the Laker attack turned up the heat as Axel Aronsson was able to blast a rebound shot off a corner into the back of the net.

Sidney Warden had a chance to extend the lead just two minutes later but his header off a cross just went of the bar.

With 7:30 remaining in the second half the Lakers were able to draw penalty kick and extend their lead to two. Warden was given the task of converting the PK and was able to fake out the Seton Hill keeper and bury it into the left side of the net.

With the 2-0 lead, Mercyhurst wasn't done. With just over five minutes remaining Fabio Schortmann made a beautiful cross over his head and Warden made no mistake finishing as he headed it past the keeper.

The Lakers controlled play for most of the second half and limited Seton Hill to very few chances.
