BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The NEC released their All-NEC teams following the conclusion of the men's soccer season.
Benjamin Buckley and
Santiago Giraldo were both featured in the list of top players from the season.
Buckley has been named to the All-NEC Second Team for the second consecutive season. The Irish native completed his junior campaign holding down the backline in 12 of the Laker's matches. Buckley scored three goals, all from set pieces. His first goal was a header from corner kick at home against Stonehill. He then scored an outstanding free kick in a 2-2 draw against Cleveland State. His third goal was another headed corner in the opening minutes of the Laker's win at Chicago State. Buckley was named an NEC Prime Performer after those last two games.
Giraldo was named to the All-NEC Rookie Team. The Colombian native was tied with Buckley for a team-high three goals and added an assist to his tally. Giraldo played in 15 of the Laker's matches and led the team in shots with 28. His first career goal came in the same 2-2 draw against Cleveland State that Buckley scored in. His first career assist occurred in the team's 4-1 win at Chicago State. Giraldo's best performance was at home against CCSU. Here, he scored two goals in their 3-1win. He was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for this performance.
