EDINBORO, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team scored a 4-3 victory over Edinboro on Saturday to earn the number one seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament and the conferences' regular season championship.

The Lakers got out to a 1-0 lead in the match by picking up a pair of wins in the doubles matches. David Akinpetide and Milan Jankovic bested Takahiro Inhoe and Kai Chin Chen 6-2 at number one. Hristo Plasheski and Kiran Richards clinched the point with a 6-3 victory over Gustavo Martins and Thibault Dorval. 

Richards tallied a 6-1, 7-6 decision over Chin Chen to give the Lakers a 2-1 advantage. Jankovic made it 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Dorval at number three. 

Unai Amilleta Gonzalez extended his winning streak to 11 singles matches after winning by retirement in the second set. Gonzalez had claimed the first set 6-2. 

The Lakers will play one last match before the PSAC Tournament when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on Bluefield State College on Saturday April 24.
