Erie, PA—The NCBWA released their latest Atlantic Region Poll and the Lakers found themselves in fifth after going 3-1 in their opening weekend. Mercyhurst was able to beat Wheeling 12-7 and swept Salem on Sunday by scores of 4-3 and 18-4.
Leading the way has been Jack Elliott who has a .353 batting average while also hitting three homeruns and driving in eight runs in the first four games this season. Mercyhurst has six players that are batting over .300 this season including Philip Ferranti who has a .462 average that includes two doubles and a homerun to open the season. Michael Krauza has been dominate on the bump in his two appearances this season, he has pitch 4.1 innings this season and has a 1.62 ERA and .46 WHIP while also striking out 7 while allowing just two hits.
The Lakers will be back on the field this weekend as they will play Notre Dame College and Lake Erie at home prior to playing Division I Akron on Sunday.
