Men's Soccer Defeats Penn State Behrend 4-2

Erie, PA—After winning their spring season opener on Saturday over No. 18 Gannon, the Mercyhurst Men's soccer team was back on the pitch to face Penn State Behrend, the Lakers were able to beat the Lions 4-2.

How it Happened

The first Laker goal was unassisted as Salvador Rang scored his first goal of the shortened season and the first goal of the night for the Lakers.

Thomas Binkowski scored his first collegiate goal for the Lakers second goal of the evening.

Julio Betar got credit for the game winning goal tonight after he took a pass from Tom Barry and no made mistake as he put it past the Lion goalkeeper for the third Mercyhurst goal.

Sidney Warden would round out the scoring for the Lakers as he netted the four of the night, freshman Jonathan Chase picked up an assist on the goal.

Every player that recorded a point tonight with the exception of Rang, registered their first points of the shortened 2021 spring season in the contest.

Up Next

The Lakers will host Gannon for the final time this spring on Saturday, April 3rd with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM.
