Today's question and answer was with freshman women's golfer
Isabella Walter. Walter, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will continue her rookie campaign with the Lakers when they tee it up again in early March. In her first collegiate tournament back in September she was the top finisher for Mercyhurst posting a two-round score of 163 good for fourth. Before coming north to Erie she led North Allegheny High School to the 2019 WPIAL Team Championship as well as the Individual crown.
Mercyhurst Focused questions:
What made you choose Mercyhurst? I chose Mercyhurst because everyone on the team seemed like a family and the campus is gorgeous. Also, the major I wanted is quite popular here.
What is your major and why did you choose it? I am a Graphic Design major. I would like to do something relating to cars when I graduate whether it is making signs for car companies or designing the cars.
What is the best thing about being at Mercyhurst? The best thing about Mercyhurst is that everyone is super welcoming and the people are very nice.
What is your favorite sports memory so far at Mercyhurst? My favorite memory so far has been getting to travel with the team to events.
Where do you hope to stop for a post-game meal? I would like to go to Chipotle and Moe's.
What is your team's focus heading into next season? Our focus is becoming winners and showing other teams that we are capable of taking home the title.
Does being an athlete help you in the classroom? If so why? Yes, because you put effort into your sport which makes it easier for you to handle schoolwork.
Personal questions:
If you could be in any movie which role would you want to play and why? I would want to play the main character role in any movie because they are super important.
Who is your favorite athlete (current or retired)? My favorite athlete is Tiger Woods.
What are some of your favorite ways to spend time outside of your sport? I like to go to car shows along with spending time with family and friends.
Do you have any pets? I have a French Bulldog, named Badger.
What was something you liked as a child that you do not enjoy as much anymore? Playing video games.
If you could go anywhere in the world for vacation where would it be and why? I would want to go visit Bora Bora, because it is absolutely gorgeous and so is the clear water.
If you could swap lives with a celebrity for a week who would it be and why? I would want to switch lives with Kim Kardashian, because I want to see how dramatic their lives really are, haha.
If you could play another sport what would it be and why? I would play lacrosse, because I like contact sports. They are fun and the adrenaline rush is crazy.
What was something you did not like as a child, but do now? Vegetables
What is your favorite family tradition? My favorite family tradition is Thanksgiving, because we all get to spend time together and eat. It is not about the presents, just spending time together for how thankful we are.
Who is your biggest role model? My biggest role model is my father, because we have always been super close. We both have a huge passion for cars and golf. I will always look up to him no matter what.
If you were able to see 20 years into the future what do you hope exists and why? I hope the world as a whole improves, because it seems like it is struggling right now.
If you could have one superpower what would it be and why? I would want to be able to teleport, so I would never be late to anything and be able to get out of any situation I wanted.
What was your favorite game as a child? Four Square
What was your first experience with your sport? My first experience was watching my father play.
Who are some of your favorite college or professional teams? My favorite professional teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
If you could have a band or a solo artist perform a private concert for you, who would it be and why? I would want the Weeknd to perform, because he has been my favorite artist for years.
What is your favorite sports memory so far at any level? My favorite sports memory is winning WPIALs in high school my senior year and winning almost every major event in high school golf except for states.
