BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team fell 15-5 to Indiana before winning 13-6 over McKendree during the first day of the Hoosiers Invite.
Indiana 15, Mercyhurst 5
Indiana scored the first goal of the game and took a 4-2 lead after the first. They extended the lead to 8-2 through the second. Mercyhurst scored one goal in the third and two in the fourth but it wasn't enough as Indiana had three in the third and four in the fourth to win 15-5.
Ava Gebhardt scored two goals while
Hanna Good recorded one goal and one assist. Single goals were earned by
Sara Marin and
Cassie Anderson.
Mason Feldstein had one assist.
In net,
Sarah O'Keefe and
Madison Hoefakker both made six saves for the Lakers.
For Indiana, Tina Doherty, Megan Abarta, Robyn Greenslade, Juli Hilosky, Izzy Mandema, Hannah Falls-Hand, Lanna Debow, Rebecca Schofield and Katherine Hawkins had goals.
In net, Sarah Greeven made six saves and Davis Simmons made three for Indiana.
The Lakers were outshot 31-22. Mercyhurst went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Hooisers went 4-for-10.
Mercyhurst 13, McKendree 6
Feldstein had one goal and four assists while Good had three goals and Anderson had two goals and one assist.
Rachel Byrnes and
Michaela Hershey had one goal and one assist each while
Rachel Morris,
Lindsey Mizrahi and
Isabella Morris had one goal each.
Jennifer Moshinsky and
Sarah O'Keefe had one assist each.
In net, O'Keefe made eight saves for the Lakers,
For McKendree, Emily Westlove, Brianna Mullalley, Carley Manuel and Lindy Justice scored goals.
Isabella Strimling made 16 saves in net.
The Lakers finish out the Hoosiers Invite Sunday at 10:30 a.m. against California Lutheran.
