LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's water polo team lost twice on Saturday during day one of the Bucknell Invitational. The Lakers fell 7-5 to Gannon before falling 11-8 to Long Island.

Gannon 7, Mercyhurst 5
Maddie Nye scored two goals and had three assists for the Lakers, having her hand in each of the Laker goals.

Cassie Anderson and
Lindsey Mizrahi both tallied one goal and one assist while
Sara Marin had the other Laker goal.

Sarah O'Keefe made five saves in net.
Â
For Gannon, Kelley Fehr scored five goals while Mary Trese Squeglia had the only two goals for the Golden Knights. In net, Sydney Klakeg made 10 saves.

Mercyhurst was 0-for-3 on the power play while Gannon went 1-for-7. The Laker had seven exclusions and Gannon had three. Mercyhurst also edged the Gannon with 29-25 shots.

Gannon scored first, but the Lakers tied it up in the second. Gannon then went on to take a 6-1 lead before Mercyhurst scored four goals to cut the deficit to 6-5. Gannon then scored one last time late in the fourth to end it 7-5.

LIU 11, Mercyhurst 8
Rachel Byrnes and Anderson scored two goals each. Anderson also tallied an assist. Single goals were earned by
Hanna Good,
Mason Feldstein, Nye and Marin. Assists were picked up by
Rachel Morris, Marin, Feldstein, Anderson and O'Keefe.

In net, O'Keefe made 12 saves for the Lakers.

Jessica Dean recorded six goals for LIU while single goals were recorded by Annie Solsky, Jeannet Garcia, Kate Hinrichs, Taylor Thurlow and Kate Kischer.

In net, Rebecca Ansell made three saves.

LIU scored first before Mercyhurst tied it up at 1-1. The two teams then went on to trade goals back and forth until LIU three goals to win 11-8
