Question and Answer - Football Jehrod Gregory

Today's student-athlete question and answer was with senior football defensive lineman Jehrod Gregory.  Gregory, a native of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 21 games in a Lakers uniform so far.  During the 2019 season, he appeared in three games recording nine tackles, including three tackles for loss racking up 17 yards.  The year before in 2018 saw action in all 11 games picking up 26 stops and a pair of pass defenses.  Before arriving in Erie he attended and played at McKeesport High School.

What made you choose Mercyhurst?
  I chose Mercyhurst because of the beautiful campus and it felt like home.  

What is your major and why did you choose it?  I am an a Human Resource Management major.  I chose it because I grew up around people who were in the business field and it always seemed interesting.  
 
What is the best thing about being at Mercyhurst?  The best part about being at Mercyhurst is family atmosphere and being able to joke around with my boys.  

What is your favorite sports memory so far at Mercyhurst?  My favorite memory so far is getting my first freshman year against IUP.

Do you have any pre or post game rituals?  My pre-game rituals are listening to swag surf before the game and getting hyped with the guys.

Where do you hope to stop for a post-game meal?  I would like to stop at Chick-fil-A

What is your team's focus heading into next season?  Our team focus is to play together and win a title.

Does being an athlete help you in the classroom?  If so why?  Yes, because it forces me to do homework and get good grades.  

Personal questions:
If you could be in any movie which role would you want to play and why?  I would want to be Alfalfa in The Little Rascals because he never gave up and always wanted to win.

Who is your favorite athlete (current or retired)?  My favorite athlete is Ryan Shazier.

What are some of your favorite ways to spend time outside of your sport?  I enjoy playing video games.

Do you have any pets?  Yes, I have a dog named Jax.

If you were able to see 20 years into the future what do you hope exists and why?  I hope there are flying cars so I can get to places faster.

What was something you liked as a child that you do not enjoy as much anymore?  Watching cartoons, I just cannot get into them anymore.

If you could go anywhere in the world for vacation where would it be and why?  I would go to Anguilla, in the Caribbean because I would want to be by clear water and the beach.  

If you could swap lives with a celebrity for a week who would it be and why?  I would want to swap lives with Jay-Z, because he seems like a really cool person to just be around and he lives in luxury.  

If you could play another sport what would it be and why?  I would want to play basketball, because that is the only other sport I played in high school.

What is your favorite family tradition?  My favorite family tradition is getting together on Christmas Eve and doing our gift exchange.  

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?  I would want to read minds, because I like to know what some people are thinking and why they think that way.  

What was something you did not like as a child, but do now?  Green Peppers

Who is your biggest role model?  My biggest role is my brother Darius.  He has showed me the ropes to a lot of things and has mentored me thoughout my life.

What was your favorite game as a child?  The Bully

What is something unique and interesting about you that we should know?  I do not watch television.

What was your first experience with your sport?  My first experience here at Mercyhurst was run test day.

Who are some of your favorite college or professional teams?  My favorite teams in college are The Ohio State University Buckeyes and University of Michigan Wolverines.  In the professional ranks it is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you could have any band or solo artist perform a private concert for you who would it be and why?  I would want Rod Wave to perform, because that's my favorite artist and his music actually means something.  

What is your favorite sports memory so far at any level?  My favorite sports memory of all time is sitting sideline at the Steelers versus Patriots game in 2018.
