BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Mercyhurst junior Blake Hoegler has been named the NEC Football Fall Scholar-Athlete. Hoegler has excelled in the classroom and on the gridiron for the Lakers, exemplifying what it means to be a student-athlete.
 
Hoegler has maintained a 4.0 GPA while studying sports medicine. While making high marks in the classroom, he's helped bring the football program to new heights in its second year at Division I.
 
Starting in 11 games, Hoegler helped the Lakers to some of the best offensive stats in the NEC. The Lakers had the third-best total offense and the second-best passing offense in the NEC.
 
The Lakers passing offense ranked in the top 50 in the FCS, helping them maintain in the NEC title fight until the last game on the year.
