Women's Ice Hockey Falls 2-1 in Overtime to No. 4 Cornell

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 in overtime to fourth ranked Cornell during non-conference action on Sunday.
 
Emma Nuutinen scored while Sam Isbell tallied an assist for Mercyhurst (11-7-2).
 
Amy Curlew and Maddie Mills scored for Cornell (13-1-1).
 
During the first period, Curlew got the Big Red on the board first at 13:58 off of a rebound in front of the net.
 
Nuutinen tied the game at 1-1 on a 5-on-3 advantage for her 13th goal of the season. Isbell and Nuutinen passed it back and forth near the blue line before Nuutinen sent the puck through traffic and into the back of the net.
 
During overtime, Mills scored to win it 2-1 for Cornell.
 
Jenna Silvonen made 33 saves in net for Mercyhurst while Lindsay Browning made 14 saves in net for Cornell.
 
The Lakers finished 1-for-5 on the power play while the Big Red went 0-for-5.
 
The Lakers are back in action when they head to College Hockey America opponent Syracuse on Jan. 10-11. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
