BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America released their weekly awards for this past weekend. After sweeping Lindenwood on the road, the Mercyhurst women's hockey team came away with a pair of awards with Rookie of the Week going to
Halle Duchene and Goaltender of the Week going to
Lexington Secreto. This comes a week after
Mariia Polozkova won Rookie of the Week following the Syracuse series.
Duchene was named AHA Rookie of the Week after a strong weekend against Lindenwood. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native scored a pair of goals in the series, one of which was a game-winner for the Lakers. Duchene now sits at eight points (3G, 5A), which brings her one point closer to both the conference and national scoring lead for freshmen.
Secreto, who once played for Lindenwood, earned her fourth career shutout on Friday. The New Windsor, N.Y. native stopped all 22 shots that she faced. In addition to her strong performance between the pipes, Secreto tallied an assist on Duchene's empty net goal in Friday's win against the Lions. This brings her season record to 1-0-0 in the young season.
