Erie, Pa.— After a regular season finish at Gannon, the Mercyhurst baseball team will head into the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament (PSAC) as the number two seed in the PSAC West.  The tournament will take place from May 8-11 at Point Stadium in Johnstown, Pa.

PSAC Tournament Outlook

• The Lakers will head into the PSAC tournament as the number two seed in the West and is scheduled to play the number three seed out of the east, Bloomsburg in the first round at 3:30 on Wednesday.
• Mercyhurst will look to make a deeper run this time around after going 1-2 in last years PSAC tournament losing to Shippensburg in its final game, 10-5.
• The Lakers would end up getting the fifth seed in the Atlantic Region where they would beat Seton Hill in the Atlantic Regional Final to advance to the College World Series for the second time in four years (2015).

Leading the Lakers into the PSAC Tournament

• Alex O'Donnell leads the Lakers in batting average (.338), hits (44) and RBI (32)
• Domenic DeRenzo leads MU in homers with nine on the season
• Matthew Minnick leads the Lakers in ERA of 1.50 (First in PSAC and fifth in the country)
• Minnick also leads in strikeouts with 106 (First in PSAC and Top 15 in the country) and leads the conference in opposing batting average (1.47)
• Tyler Garbee sits third in the PSAC with an ERA of 2.10 and second behind Minnick in opposing batting average (1.72)

 
Scouting Bloomsburg

• The Huskies (31-14, 18-10) will come into the PSAC tournament coming off of a four game skid to West Chester, to close their regular season.
• Carter Chasanov leads BU with a batting average of .336 and also ties with Nate Krizan for most on the year with 43
• Kyle OFier leads in RBI with 41 and homeruns with 12 (4th in PSAC)
• On the rubber, Ashton Raines leads the team with an ERA of 2.31 (5th in PSAC) and a  6-2 record
• Chad Cooperman leads the team in strikeouts with 67

 
PSAC Schedule Outlook

• With a Laker win, they would then play the winner of Millersville and Seton Hill on Thursday at 6:30 PM
• With a loss, Mercyhurst would play the loser of Millersville and Seton Hill on Thursday at 12:30 PM
