Pipher Selected As GMAC Offensive Player of the Year; Seven Lakers Named All-GMAC

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Mercyhurst men's lacrosse player Devin Pipher was named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, leading a group of seven Lakers who were named to the All-GMAC Team, as announced by the league on Thursday.

Pipher, Will Agate, Nathan Grenon, Caleb Kueber and Brandon May were selected to the All-GMAC First Team while Haden Bates and Dom Perna were named to the Second Team.

Pipher and Kueber rank 1-2 on the team in all major offensive categories. Pipher leads the Lakers -- and the GMAC -- in points and assists while Kueber leads the way in goals. Pipher is second in the conference in assists.

Heading into the GMAC Tournament, Pipher has 70 total points, averaging five points per game. The sophomore attackman from Oshawa, Ont., has 37 assists -- good enough for a conference-leading average of 2.64. Pipher has scored 33 goals and has an average of 2.36. He also is tied for third on the team in groundballs (30). Pipher is now a two-time All-GMAC honoree; he received an honorable mention last year.

Kueber, a sophomore attackman from Victoria, B.C., has 43 goals to lead the team and conference while ranking second with 20 assists and 63 points. His averages are 3.07 goals, 1.36 assists and 4.43 points. Kueber also had 20 groundballs.

Pipher and Kueber have been key cogs to the Lakers' third-ranked offense in D-II. Pipher is tied for fifth in the nation in assists per game and tied for 11th in points per game while Kueber is 17th in goals per game and tied for 20th in points per game.

Grenon, a sophomore midfielder from Stittsville, Ont., ranks fourth on the team in goals (25), assists (14) and points (39). He also has nine groundballs. Grenon is now a two-time All-GMAC player; he was named to the Second Team last year.

May, a senior defender from Buffalo, N.Y., has now been recognized in each of his four years as a senior. He was an All-GMAC honorable mention as a junior, an All-GMAC Second Team performer as a sophomore, and an ECAC All-Rookie Team player as a freshman. In 2018, he has 29 groundballs and 14 caused turnovers, ranking fifth and second on the team, respectively. May has also been credited with one assist.

Agate, a junior defender from Hamburg, N.Y., has 26 groundballs and 10 caused turnovers. He was an All-GMAC honorable mention last year and an All-GMAC Freshman Team honoree two years ago.

Perna, a senior midfielder from Clarence, N.Y., was an All-GMAC honorable mention in 2018 before ascending to the Second Team in 2019. He has 12 goals and 10 assists for a total of 22 points. He tied for third on the squad with 30 groundballs. Perna also had 10 caused turnovers.
